Tin Pang is an award-winning film and television writer and director, known for crafting diverse stories that reflect contemporary Australia, informed by his experiences growing up as an Asian-Australian. With works ranging from irreverent comedy to intimate drama, he has a strong focus on performance and the portrayal of unique characters.

 

His short films, The Pale Moonlight and Mother, Child have screened at festivals across the globe, including MIFF, Flickerfest, St Kilda, World-Fest Houston, HollyShorts and Fantasia. In 2017, Mother, Child received the ATOM Award for Best Short Fiction and a Silver Remi Award at World-Fest Houston. That same year, Tin was invited to attend MIFF’s Accelerator Lab for emerging talent. In 2021, Tin was selected as one of five directors to take part in the Equity Foundation’s Screen Diversity Showcase, resulting in the short film, Radical Honesty. The film went on to screen at Peninsula, Gold Coast, Heart of Gold and Short Com film festivals. 

 

Tin completed director’s attachments on A Place To Call Home (Foxtel) in 2018 and Home and Away (Seven) in 2022. Following this, he began working as a director on Home and Away. Tin has also worked as an assistant director on series including Last King Of The Cross (Paramount+), The Artful Dodger (Disney+), Erotic Stories (SBS), He Had It Coming (Stan) and upcoming features Street Fighter (Paramount) and Spaceballs 2 (Amazon MGM).

 

In 2023, Tin received Screen Australia and Screen NSW development funding for Sell-Out, a satirical tragicomedy series delving into the hotbed topic of woke capitalism, set in the unpredictable world of advertising. Tin will produce and direct the series, and is currently writing the series pilot. Tin is also attached to the Screen Australia development funded dramedy series Farewell Tour created by Clem Bastow, focusing on the indie sleaze era of Melbourne’s music scene.
